Susan Griss is an
educator, dancer and choreographer who teaches creative movement to
explore elementary core curriculum.
Her book, Minds in Motion: A
Kinesthetic Approach to Teaching Elementary Curriculum, was published
by Heinemann in 1998.
She is is on the faculty of Bank Street College
of Education in New York and Lesley University in Massachusetts, and is a guest
lecturer at colleges, public schools, teacher institutes and art centers around
the country. |

Ms. Griss has taught
workshops at Columbia Teachers College, Smith, Vassar, Skidmore, Sarah Lawrence,
the American Dance Guild, and other educational and arts institutes throughout
the Northeast. She has also been an educational consultant for the Arts
Education Office of the NYC Board of Education, training teachers in the public
schools.
Since 1984, Ms. Griss has been an Artist-in-Residence working with children in
public schools. Since its inception in 1998, she has been a teaching artist for
the Empire State Partnerships Projects in New York State. Ms. Griss has also
taught movement workshops to train children in mediation and conflict
resolution, and created special dance projects for children who are deaf. A
graduate of Smith College with a Master's Degree from New York University, she
has danced with the Laura Dean Dance Co., the Vanaver Caravan and her own
Triangle Fire Dance Co.
